Obituary

Services for Armelia Armstrong will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Perry Clay CME Church, with the Rev. Gary Chalk officiating. Burial will be in Post Oak-Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Armelia Armstrong was born in Rusk County, Texas to the parentage of Alex and Carrie Watkins.
She attended Rusk County Public Schools. Armelia was a member of Smith Chapel Church and later moved her membership to Perry Clay C.M.E. She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Walter Armstrong; four sisters, Victoria Wright, Berdie Lee Carter, Iola Hall, and Ivomae Watkins; and a brother, Harvey Watkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Walter Mae Blankenship, Onita Armstrong, Shirley Brown (Henry), Loretta Washington, and Carrie Hollands (Reggie); three sons, Louis Armstrong, Loyce Armstrong (Nettie) and John Wayne Armstrong all of Longview, TX; two sisters, Effie Harris and Sharon Watkins; one brother, Alex Watkins, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a very special cousin, Charles Holland; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
