Arthur Carter Jr.,was born on April 01,1930,in Doyline,Louisiana to the parentage of the late Arthur and Willie Harper Carter.He was sixth of ten children.He accepted Christ in Scottsville,Texas.He later moved to Marshall,Texas where he united with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church and eventually united with St.Mary Baptist Church where he served as deacon until his health failed.
Arthur received his formal education in the Marshall Public School District.He retired from Thiokol Ammunition Plant in Karnack,Texas.
Arthur married Mary Lois Coleman Carter in 1947,and to this union six children were born.Mary,along with three of the children,Sharon,Conrad,and Carlos preceded him in death.His parents,three brothers,Isaac,Aaron,and Tyler and two sisters,Irene and Julia also preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory:his wife,Annie Spillmon Carter;one daughter,Patsy Carter Sneed(Joe),Longview,Tx;two sons,Nolan Wayne Carter and Bradley Troy Carter,Marshall,Tx;three step-daughters;LaSandra Johnson,Jacqueline Cooks,and Angelo Nziramasanga;two brothers,Willie James Carter and Rev.Robert E.Waton(Mattie) Kansas City,Mo;two sisters,Martha Chisom,Mansfield,Tx and Gladys Carter,Carrollton,Tx;eight grandchildren,Stacey,Hodge(Allen),Latinka Hicks,Eric Carter(Tameka),Longview,TxTamela Horton,Joetta Wesley(Kevin),Ellen Hinton(Andre),all of Grand Prairie,Tx,Veronica Tate(Keith),Nolan Carter jr.,Mesquite,Tx;five step-grandchildren,Michael Cooks,Arianna Cooks,Destiny Johnson and Desiree Nziramasanga;five great grandchildren and a host of nieces,nephews,relatives and friends.
