Obituary

Memorial service for Charles Hoyt will be held Sat., April 11, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the Parkview Baptist Church in Longview. Pastor J. C. Watkins, Officiating.

He was the first born son of Charlie and Thelma Hoyt who preceded their son in death.
He attended Southside Elementary, and then on to Mary C. Womack High where he was active in a variety of extra-curricular activities - he served as President of Student Body, Varsity Football, and the Marching Band. He was a Running Back at Howard University in Washington, D.C., he transferred and received his Bachelor Degree at Prairie View A&M University, and then he earned his Masters of Science Degree from the University of Bridgeport, and he had a PhD in progress from the same school. He played Semi-Pro Football in Houston, Texas. He was a well respected Science teacher, Athletic Director and award winning Coach at Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and a long-time member of the East End Baptist Church, and Deacon Board in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After retiring to Longview, Texas he reunited with Parkview Baptist Church, and with faithful service became President of the Deacon Board, sang with the Choir, and served with the Brotherhood.

He leaves to morn his dear and favorite Aunt, Eula Mae Brown of Dallas, Texas; two sisters Joyce Adams of Los Angeles, California and Joania Johnson of Dallas, Texas; two bothers Chester Hoyt of Carson, California and Elbert Wayne Hoyt of Dallas, Texas; his youngest sister Euletta Hoyt preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives, and loving friends that will sorely miss him.
