Services for Deacon Swonzie Coleman will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007, at Red Oak Baptist Church Inc. with Pastor H. C. Rockmore Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Wyche Cemetery.
Deacon Coleman was the last of the seven children born to the late Johnson and Lola Coleman of Center, Texas. Swonzie transitioned to his new life Sunday, January 28, 2007.
He confessed Christ at an early age. Later, he united with the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church where he served (in excess of sixty (60) years) in various ministries; until his health failed.
Swonzie's education was obtained in the East Texas school system.
He retired after thirty-five (35) years of committed service with LeTourneau Tech.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of seventy-two (72) years, Estella; his children, Ruth Esther, Los Angeles, California; Willie James, Dallas, Texas; Barbara Ann, Inglewood, California; Wilbert Earl (Sandi), DeSoto, Texas; William Berl "Bubba" (who preceded him in death); his grandchildren, Tacoby Coleman, Thomas Turner Jr., Eric and Derrick Coleman, Ashuntee Coleman, and Brian Coleman; thirteen (13) great-grandchildren; brother (brother-in-law), Walter Cotton, and many other relatives and friends.
