Obituary

Services for Doris Helen Blackmon will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007, at St. James Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Gray, Pastor Officiating. Burial will be in Grable Cemetery.

Doris Helen Blackmon was born on February 24, 1939, to the late James and Mary Blackmon in Gum Springs Community in Harrison County. Later she moved to the St. James Community where she attended the Sabine Valley Elementary School in Greggton, Texas and the Longview Womack High School in Longview, Texas.

She united with the St. James Baptist Church at an early age where she sang in the choir and remained faithful until her health failed.

On Friday, January 12, 2007 at 5:00 a.m. in Melrose Nursing Rehabilitation Center of Tyler, Texas she departed this life surrounded by family and friends.

She leaves to cherish and carry on her memory a brother, Charles Blackmon (Martha) of Tyler, Texas; a sister, Johnnie Lucas of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Darlene Barney of Dallas, Texas; three sons, Vennis Gray of Tyler, Texas, Byron Mack (Glenda) of Desoto, Texas and Randy Butler of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Lashun Barney, Michael Barney and Randy Butler Jr. all of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jamarious Razenell and Randy Butler III both of Dallas, Texas; a special friend, Ethel Bradley of Greggton, Texas and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Blackmon; four children; two sisters, Jimmie Nell Jones and Elease Riggs; one brother, James Blackmon and grandson, Myron Mack.
