Funeral services for Mrs. Effie James, 104 years old, will be held Sat. April 25, 2009 from the Jerusalem Baptist Church. Pastor J.H. Creal, Officiating. Burial Jordan Valley Memorial Park.

Sister Effie James was born May 4, 1904 in Grand Cane - Keachie, Louisiana. She was the eighth child of Marion and Mary Adams. Sister James' earthly walk ended Friday, April 17, 2009.

On December 10, 1922, Effie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Melvin Houston. Three children were born to this union: Marie, Willie D. and Dema Houston.

Some years later, Sis. Effie moved to Longview, Texas to look for a job. There she met and married Mr. Rance James. No children were born to this union. This union remained until the Lord called Bro. James from labor to reward.

Sis. James worked hard. She loved her church and always wanted the best for Jerusalem.

Those left waiting to join Mrs. Effie, One Son: Dema Houston of Houston, Texas, One Sister: Lela Beth Harris of Tenaha, Texas, Eight Grandchildren, Twenty-seven Great-Grandchildren, Forty-three Great-Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
