Funeral services for Eugene D. Scott Sr. (singing Scott) will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Lighthouse Church of Faith in Longview. Pastor Ed Walker, Eulogist. Burial Red Rock Cemetery, Gladewater.

His Life

Brother Eugene D. Scott was born March 3, 1928 in Kilgore, Texas to the parentage of Mr. Will Ivory and Isabel Scott. He was reared in Kilgore and Orange Texas, where he attended public school.
At the age of 4, Bro. Scott started singing gospel in the church. At the young age of 14, he started touring with various groups.. Sam Cooke & The Soul Stirrers, The Smith Brothers, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Golden Crowns, The Wayside Travelers, Six Songs of Joy and the Mighty Echoes until his health failed.
In the late sixties, he united with the Parkview Baptist Church under the pastorship of the Rev. R. R. Ray. He attended Lighthouse of Faith, Pastor Elder Edward Walker.
He worked for Brown & Root, Harris Industry, LeTourneau Industry, Grady Crawford Construction, Emmit Hudson Construction, and he retired from McDade Construction Company in 1991.
He was a Master Mason in the Golden Rule Lodge and a community volunteer.

Bro. Scott united in Holy Matrimony to Lillian Mae Bell Scott who preceded him in death.
Later, Bro. Scott united in Holy Matrimony with Sister Eunice Hudson-Scott. They were joined together in Holy Matrimony for 40 years, 10 months and 2 weeks.

Children: David Cox and Annie Lois Cole Watts preceded him in death; Lester Cole (Helen Faye), Eugene Scott Jr. (Glenda), Marvin Edward Scott (Christel), Ronald Carson Scott (Desah), Sandra Scott, Shemece Choice and son-in-law, John Choice, Tyerail Scott; Son-in-Law, John Watts; Daughter-in-Law, Lillie Faye Cox; Grandchildren, Lois Jean, David Jr., Lester Jr., Eric, Samuel, Jason, Annacua, April, Micheal, Gregory, TaTonya, Keir, Robby, Ariel, Christa, Tevin, Dee Dee, Aubrey (Boo), DeShanna, Alexis, D'Ron, Micheal-Tray, Benjamin, JaVonte', Da'Nerian, VerDisha, Brandious, Latasha, Curtis, and Jahmal; and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

Sister-in-law, Mae McDuffie (Lester) of Dallas, Texas and Brothers-in-law, Rev. Billy Bell and Alvin L. Robertson of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
