Funeral Services for Evia Jackson will be held Sat. January 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Growing Valley Baptist Church. Pastor C.E Faulks, Officiating, Burial Gracehilll Cemetery.
EVIA LEE PRUITT was born August 8, 1914 in Gregg County Texas. She was the daughter of Nora Jackson and Will Kelly Pruitt. She attended school in Longview, Texas.
Evia married Tepoleon Jackson on May 13, 1933 and nine children were born to this union. She joined Growing Valley Baptist Church early in life and was an active missionary worker. She was a devoted member and officer of the Circle No. 3 and most known for coordinating the annual tea sponsored by this organization. She also served many years as a volunteer for the March of Dimes and a school volunteer throughout her children's school years.
Evia was a loving mother and wife. She valued both her immediate and extended family and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She had a charitable heart and was always willing to help others. She could see humor in all situations in life and loved to laugh. Her laughter easily spread to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Jerry and Tepoleon, Jr., mother, father, one sister and six brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters: Shirley Jackson and Barbara Jones of Longview; Renee Smith (Bob) and Nora Jackson of Garland, Texas; Eva Jackson Hester of Columbia, Maryland; Paulette Jackson of San Leandro, California; one son, Albert Jackson (Sedelia) of Longview; and one sister, Katherine Falls of Saginaw, Michigan. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she will be missed by a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, one aunt (Fannie) and friends.
