Funeral service for Mr. Floyd E. Smith will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor H. C. Rockmore Sr., Officiating. Burial, Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Floyd Edward Smith was born December 10, 1945 to the parentage of the late Ernest Sr. and Effie Smith. He along with his siblings were nurtured to become strong believers in Christ at a very young age.

At an early age he united with Fredonia Baptist Church. Later in life he united with Red Oak Baptist Church where he remained until his demise.

Floyd attended and graduated from Fredonia High School. For over 30 years he was employed with Arco Oil & Gas, from which he retired.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Smith Portley on March 3, 2011.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Gwendolyn Smith; a son, Leonard E. Smith; a daughter, Cassandra Smith; four grandchildren, Jalan Horne, Rashard Horne, Ariyah Smith, and Shakkeria Johnson; two brothers, Ernest (Faye) Smith Jr. of Longview, John (Martha) Smith of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Jimmie (Comoses) Davis of Longview, Jessie (Boyd) Templeton of Houston, Texas, Dorothy (late James) Dawson of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
