Funeral Service for Mrs.Frances Jean Smith Means will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Red Oak Baptist Church in Longview, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stanmore Funeral Home in Longview.
Frances Jean Smith Means was born October 31,1951 to Harvey Smith Jr. and Annie Reese. Frances attended Fredonia Elementary,Maggie B Hudson,and Mary C. Womack in 1969.She also attended Kilgore Junior College.
She accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Kilgore.She attended Red Oak Baptist Church under Rev.B.B. Brown in Longview and then joined Galilee Baptist Church in Longview under Rev.J.B. Dunlap.She later reunited with Red Oak Baptist Church in Longview under Rev.H.C. Rockmore Sr.,where she was a faithful member until her death.She served as a young matron,Sunday School teacher,and held the title of Choir President.
Frances loved to sing,garden,spend time with her family,cook,and shop at Cato's.
Frances was a very hard worker and devoted 31 years of her life to the banking industry.She loved her customers and co-workers and they loved her as well.
Frances met and married Fred Means and to this union their son LaMarcus was born.
She leaves to cherish her memory the following:Son,LaMarcus and his wife LaQuita;Mother,Annie Reese Dewberry;Mama,Maxine Doris Reese Robinson;Grandchildren, Jasmyn, Keishaunna, Makayla,and Jordan;Sisters,Kittie Gipson,Dee Rossum,Lena Bailey,Pamela Rossum,and Ruth Swindell;brothers,Robert Dewberry and Roy Dewberry;Uncle,Charles Reese;Special Friends, Charlotte Faggett,Linda Johnson,Betty Thurmond,Gaynelle Battie,and Queen Hunt and a host of nieces and nephews.
Frances was preded in death by her spouse,Fred Means;her father,Harvey Smith Jr.;her grandparents,Harvey Smith Sr. and Josie Smith and Will and Ethelean Reese;sisters,Ethelean Crawford and Katherine Dewberry.
