Obituary

Funeral Services for Mr. Burkes will be held Jan. 2, 2010 at 11a.m. from the Stanmore Chapel with Supt. Pervis Johnson, Officiating and burial at Jordan Valley Memorial Park.

Frederick D. Burkes was born September 27, 1934 in Silsbee, Texas to the parentage of Alexander Burkes and Julia Masha Burkes.

Fred graduated from Frazier–Mathers High School. He attended Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College. After leaving Prairie View, he began working for the railroad. He retired in June of 1987. He was a member of the Santa Fe Retired Employees Organization.

He met and married Princess Louise Richardson on October 31, 1976.

He leaves to cherish precious memoires, his lovely and devoted wife, Princess Louise Burkes; sons, Frederick Jr. of Oklahoma, Ronald Patrick (Marie) of Longview; sister, Essie Mae Simmons (Marscine) of Silsbee, Texas; god-son, Nichalous Richardson of Longview; god-daughter, Natasha Smith of Longview; sisters-in-law, Wilma Johnson, Mary Richardson, Sylvia (Don) Daniels, Mabel Albercrombie, and Fannie Richardson all of Longview; grandchildren, Koree Burkes, Rae Netta Burkes, and Terranee Burkes.

His parents, Alexander and Julia Burkes; sister, Josie Mae Renfro; brothers, Samuel Burkes, Emmitt Burkes, Chester Lee Burkes, and Alexander Burkes Jr. preceded him in death.
