Funeral Service for Mr. Hugh L. Manning, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., Galilee Baptist Church, Longview with the Rev. J.B. Dunlap, Officiating. Burial Jordan Valley Memorial Park.
Hugh L. Manning was the son of the late Daniel and Emma Manning. He was born in Marshall, Texas on April 26, 1932. He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1950.
On June 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary McCray until her death in 1984. Five children were born to this union.
Hugh served in the United States Army for 8 years, achieving the rank of Corporal before he was honorably discharged in December 1960.
He received Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of 32 and was baptized at the old location of Galilee Baptist Church at 206 E. Nelson. He remained a faithful member until his death. Bro. Manning was ordained as a Deacon on June 30, 1966 and he also served as the Superintendent of Sunday School for many years.
He was employed at Texas Eastman for over 30 years before he retired in 1996. After his retirement he enjoyed his hobbies which included hunting, gardening, and raising cattle.
Hugh L. Manning's home going was also preceded by his sisters, Mrs. Mildred King and Mrs. Inez Walker.
He leaves to honor and cherish his memories his five children, Darhal Manning (Marilyn), Kenneth Manning, Sandra Manning all of Longview, TX; Sheryl Manning, M.D and Angela Manning both of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren, Cne Manning, Alicia Manning, Kenneth Manning Jr., Kendrick Manning; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
