Funeral service for Mr. Peters will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 3:00 P.M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Atlanta, TX with Elder Bernice James, Officiating. Burial Shiloh Cemetery in Atlanta, TX.

J. D. Peters was called home to the Lord Saturday, August 20, 2011. He was born June 28, 1928 to the late Sam and Riva (Cook) Peters in the Shiloh Community of Atlanta, Texas.

He worked as a Logger for many years. J. D. was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Loved ones who also preceded him in death, a sister Vanilla Hunter; brothers, L. V. Peters, Andrew Peters and N. A. Cook; nephew, Rev. Vernon Warren and great-great-nephew, Germorien Jackson.

He leaves to mourn his passing one son, Jerry Wayne Johnson and two grandsons, Jerry Wayne Johnson Jr. and Jerome Wayne Johnson; one brother, Charlie T. Peters; sister-in-law, Eloise Peters; a special niece, Lois Roberson of Atlanta, Texas; niece, Cora Straker of Houston, Texas; nephews, Robert Warren, Charlie D. Peters and Jimmy Peters all of Atlanta, Texas; special friend, James Cook and a host of other relatives and friends.
