Obituary

Funeral Service for Mrs. Jessie Dawson will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Hayward-Stanmore Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 1-5 p.m. at the Hayward Stanmore Funeral Home of Marshall, Texas.

The life of Jessie Beatrice Washington Dawson, began on January 2, 1919 in Harleton, Texas, Harrison County.

Jessie B. Dawson was born to the parentage of the late Rev. Frank Washington and Virgie Stoker Washington. Jessie B. attended public school in Harrison County, Texas.

Jessie B. Washington and Felma Dawson were united in marriage. To this unification ten (10) children were born. She accepted Christ at an early age. She united with Concordia Methodist Church, where she was Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, Communion Steward, United Methodist Women's treasurer and other duties as call upon. Mrs. Dawson worked devotedly with different organizations in the church until her health failed.

She passed away peacefully on June 19, 2011 at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas at the age of 92. She joined her parents, siblings and her daughter Beatrice Dawson in death.

She is survived by five (5) daughters and four (4) sons: Thelma Thompson, Virgie Saxon, Berlean Mack, Cara Ervin (Charles), Mae Robinson (Lois), Rev. Joe W. Dawson (Maxine), George Dawson (Linda), Johnny Dawson (Eva), all of Dallas, Texas, and Felma L. Dawson of Marshall, Texas. Grandchildren: Jessie, Tina, Horace III, Joey Sr., Pamla, Kelvin, Calvin, LaKyshia, Nedra, Janice, Marco, Willie, Benita, Sixteen (16) great grandchildren, one (1) great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a very special friend, Ms. Margaret Armstead.
