A Celebration of Life ceremony for Johnny "John" (JJ) Johnson Jones, Jr.,58, will be on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Red Oak Baptist Church at 11 a.m.. The Wake will be on Tuesday, July 31st from 6-7 p.m. at Stanmore Funeral Home. Burial will be in Perry Clay Cemetery.

Johnny Johnson Jones, Jr. was born January 16, 1954 in Los Angeles, California to the late Johnny Johnson Jones, Sr. and Malinda Evans Jones.

John attended Hamilton Park Elementary School, and graduated from Richardson High School in 1972. After graduation from high school, he earned an Associate of Science Degree from Kilgore College, and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He continued his education while in the USAF, and earned a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Anchorage, Alaska.

In November 1994, he married his best friend and soul mate, Ms. Carolyn Portley, and they remained best friends and a loving couple until the end.

John was employed by FOX-51/NBC-56, where he worked as an Account Executive for eighteen years. He enjoyed traveling, raising cattle, hunting, and gardening.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Carolyn Portley Jones; two daughters, Lauren Grace Jones Lee (Kenneth)of Irving, Texas; and Nicole Elyse Jones of West Lafayette, Indiana; two God-children, Taylor Symone Black and Bryton DeKaleb Williams; two sisters, Evelyn Jones Armstrong (Louis) of Arlington, Texas; and Cheryl D. Jones of Desoto, Texas, and a host of other relatives including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
