The Homegoing Celebration of Life In Honor of Mrs.Joyce Marie Gray Taylor Noon Saturday,June 11,2011 at the Hayward Stanmore Funeral Chapel with Rev.Phillip W.Gray,Sr.,Officiating.Interment Powdermill Cemetery Marshall,Texas.
Life began,Robert and Elvera Gray were two of the proudest parents on Earth,when they were blessed with the birth of their second oldest child Joyce Marie.This miracle took place in Carthage,Texas on February 12,1932.
Joyce Marie was educated in the Tarrant County Independent School District.
Joyce Marie accepted Christ at an early age.Being instilled by her parents the importance of living a Christ-centered life,Joyce lived her life accordingly.Being a Preacher's child,Joyce fellowshipped under the leadership of her father,the late Dr.R.B. Gray.She was a faithful member of Greater Saint Stephens Missionary Baptist Church,in Forth Worth,Texas.Upon her marriage to Rev.E.M. Taylor,she moved to the Piney Woods of Marshall,Texas,where she became a member under the leadership of her husband,at Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church,where she remained until her health failed.
Joyce was a proud Housekeeper for over fifty years.
At an early age she became the mother of two sons.Then in 1959,she married David Kuykendall,and to union she gave birth to three children.Later in life she married Maurice Simmons and to this union two of her children were born.In 1977,she married the late Rev.E.M. Taylor,to this union she was blessed with 14 step-children.
Joyce was a sweet,gentle soul who showed love to anyone who graced her door steps.Her spirit will live on through the lives of so many she touched,whether offering them a place to sleep or offering them a meal.The last words she spoke to her children were"Remember to love one another".Hearing these words will forever keep her loving spirit within everyone's life whom she has ever touched.
She departed this life on June 05,2011,in the morning hours,surrounded by her children at her daughter's home.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dr.R.B. and Elvera Gray,two brothers,Willie and Jimmie(Ann)Gray,and her late husband,the Rev.E.M. Taylor.
Joyce is now resting in the Lord,her name is hidden in the name of Jesus Christ and written in the lambs Book of Life.Waiting to meet her again,she leaves her four faithful sons,Robert(Gladys),Kevin,Phillip(Tequice),and Jeffery;along with her three loving daughters,Jocelyn(Leonard),Sonja(Anthony),and Casandra;her step-children,Duwayne(Renee),Nathan,Linda,Earnetta,and Paul(Loretta) Taylor.She leave six siblings,one brother Johnny(Earnestine),and five sisters Robbie,Mattie,Vera(Michael),Henrietta and Shirley,and one sister-in-law Ann Gray.She leaves a host of grandchildren,Kendric,Shanon,Jason,Leonard(Sonja),Robert Jr.,Phillip Jr.(Michelle),Krystal,Amber,Evan,Ryan(Brittani),Kiffany,Joi,Denovis,Jasmine,Chaz,Brittany,Jeffery Jr.,Kim,Chase,Kabrina,Ebony,Tambrisha and Jerry;along with 13 step-grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Her God children Samethia and Shawn;and also,a young lady shereared as a daughter,Mary Ellen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
