Funeral services for Lenzell Coby will be held Sat., March 14, 2009 at 1p.m. from the Red Oak Baptist Church. Pastor H.C. Rockmore, Sr. - Officiating. Burial - Grable Cemetery.

DEACON LENZELL COBY was born April 2, 1927 to John Coby and Clemmie (Lockett) Coby in Upshur County. He was the eldest of seven children. He grew up in Red Rock Community in Gladewater, Texas where he accepted Christ and united with Saint James Baptist Church.

In 1991, Deacon Coby united with the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church. He was the assistant chairman of the Deacon/Laymen Ministry, Doorman for Christ, member of the Family Choir, Male Chorus, and Men's Sunday School. He was also honored as "Man of The Year" at Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church.

In January 2009, Deacon Coby was honored for his dedicated services rendered to the Red Oak Baptist Church Deacon Ministry.

He attended public schools in Gladewater and finished at Weldon High School. He served in the United States Army which he developed several trades that motivated him to pursue upon his completed tour of duty. After returning home from duty, he entered barber school and became a Master Barber. He was a barber for over 55 years. Deacon Coby was the owner of Friendly Barber Shop, Longview, Texas.
His parents preceded him in death, one daughter, Andetricha Sams and three sisters, Thelma Allen, Norvella Scott, and Billy Jo Taylor.

Deacon Coby met and married Opal E. Hollins in December 1996. We acknowledge that each of us have children by previous marriage and no children together.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and supportive wife of 13 years; four daughters, Lutricia Bean of Houston; Victoria Catching (Harold) of Houston; Antionette Lincoln of Gladewater; Myrea' L. Hollins of Dallas; six sons, Billy Ray Coby Hardeman of Gilmer; Lenzell Coby, Jr. of Houston; Charles B. Hollins (Judy) of Austin; Fredrick E. Hollins (Pellie) of Houston; Wilton J. Hollins of Plano; Rodney L. Hollins (Kelly) of DeSoto; one godson, Michael D. Canton (Gloria) of Longview; three siblings, Benjamin F. Coby (Ann) of Gladewater; Emery Lee Coby (Florence) of Houston; Johnny Coby (Johnnie Mae) of Houston; 32 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
