Funeral service for Lorenzo Johnson will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Galilee Baptist Church in Longview; Rev. H. C. Rockmore, Sr., officiating and burial in Jordan Valley Memorial Park.
Lorenzo Johnson was born in Longview, Texas on July 26, 1954. His parents were Hazel Wilson Wilkins and the late Earmon Johnson. Lorenzo departed this life Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:30 p.m. after an extensive bout with cancer.
Lorenzo was baptized at the Galilee Baptist Church in Longview, Texas at an early age. He received his education in the Longview Public School System and served his country through the United States military branch of the Army as a Hawk Missile Crewman. Lorenzo received an honorable discharge on October 16, 1974.
Lorenzo had a zest for life and a contagious smile. He could turn your darkest night into the brightest day. He was full of humor and always had something funny to say, even in his last hours here on earth.
He will be lovingly remembered by all for his genuine love for the Lord, love for his family and friends, and his radiant smile.
Lorenzo leaves to share and cherish his memory, his mother, Hazel Wilkins, Longview, Texas, two sons, Gerald Edwards (Adriana) Dallas, Texas, Byron Johnson (Dashaundra), Balch Springs, Texas; one brother, Lonzell Johnson Sr., Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Luzell J. Bell, Arlington, Texas, Lynell M. Topps (Deante), McDonough, Georgia, Lora A. Johnson, Rowlett, Texas, Lila R. Jackson, Longview, Texas, Lisa D. Bagent (Bryant), Longview, Texas; one aunt, Mary E. Ingram, Oakland, California; two grandsons, Bralon and Deonte Johnson, Balch Springs, Texas; four granddaughters, Kyla,Trinity, Azaria Johnson, Balch Springs, Texas and Nefertiti Edwards, Dallas,Texas, five nephews, six nieces, thirteen great nephews, six great nieces, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Father, Earmon Johnson, brother, Lawrence Johnson and daughter, Alicia Waite, all preceded him in death.
