Mary Alice Carr was born June 20, 1937 in Waskom, Texas to the parentage of Martha Nesbett Anthony and Albany Devers.

She was raised and educated in Longview, Texas. At an early age she became a faithful and devoted member of Galilee Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She worked as a chef and nurses aide.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Martha Anthony; stepfather, Carlton Anthony; daughter, Veda Ballard Neal and grandson, Kevin Cox.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her father, Albany Devers (Doris) of Shreveport, Louisiana; children: George W. Ballard, Jr. (Mary) and Trina Brewster of Longview, Texas; grandchildren: George L. Ballard (Mona) and Sharhonda Hall of Houston, Texas, Sharonda Beck, Deuwonna O'Neal, Ricky Lewis, Edwina Washington (Darrell), Edward Cox, Jr. (Sada) of Longview, Texas. She was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren; a special loving and devoted cousin Emmanuel (Andy) Dotrey; a host of loving devoted relatives and friends.
