Roosevelt Taylor, Sr. was born in Hallsville, Texas on February 19, 1936, to Johnnie B. Taylor, Sr and Gertrude Taylor. On November 16, 2025, Roosevelt passed away quietly at his home, surrounded by his family.
Roosevelt attended Galilee High School and Bishop College leading to professions of Master Electrician and entrepreneur.  He loved deer hunting, starting new projects, and traveling.  However, his passion was working and making money.
As an enterprising businessman, Roosevelt formed Taylor Electric, LUCO Inc, Electrification by LUCO, Mensch Timber, Mr. T's Bail Bonding Service, and was a successful rancher.
He met Marie Davis, and they were married in Marshall, TX 70 years ago. To this union six children were born.  Roosevelt loved his family. He provided for, cherished, and led his household.
Roosevelt served as an Elder and Song Leader at Westward St. Church of Christ in Texas City, TX and Song Leader at Sweet Home Church of Christ in Hallsville, Tx demonstrating his love, faith, and commitment to the church. He played an active role in the community serving as a member of the Galveston County Sheriff Beach Patrol and DJ Rudy Dan on the radio.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie B. Taylor, Sr and Gertrude Taylor; son, Dr. Donald R. Taylor; brothers, Richard Taylor, Sr., TC Taylor, Alvin Taylor; sister, Nelderine Johnson.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of 70 years, Mrs. Marie Davis Taylor; five children, Jeannette LeBlanc (Lemon II), Wanda Beck (Michael), Dr. Kathleen Taylor, Sharon Kirksey (Bernard III), Roosevelt Taylor, Jr (Dr. Lisa Helaire); 16 grandchildren, Dr. Tamara Johnson (Dr. Anthony Johnson), Tiffany Beck, Ashley Beck, Kacy Beck, Jia LeBlanc (Carl), Lemon LeBlanc III, Kimberly Lopez (Oscar), Rosemary Taylor, Elissa Williams  (Vincent), Roosevelt Taylor III (Taylor), Bernard Kirksey, IV (Crystal), Sergio Kirksey (Estela), Brittney Kirksey, Selena Kirksey, Sean Kirksey; Derreck Taylor; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Johnnie B. Taylor, Jr; sister, Amie Lee Berkley, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Roosevelt's homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Cotton Street Church of Christ, 2015 East Cotton Street, Longview, Texas. Viewing will be held at the church as well from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.
