STANLEY ARTHUR EVANS, son of Elder Stanley and Sister Mary (Little) Evans was born on October 16, 1921. He departed this life on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Longview Regional Hospital.
After graduating from Steubenville (Big Red) High, "Operator" as he was affectionately called by friends, attended a year at the University of Steubenville. When our Country was engaged in World War II, he was drafted into the United States Navy, sailing on the LSD2-USS Belle Grove.
Arthur returned from the war, married Miss Martha Asbury and proved to be a family man while working for nearly 40 years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was a resourceful entrepreneur in an effort to take care of his growing family.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Ray Evans, his loving wife of almost 50 years, Martha Viola (Asbury) Evans, and another son, Marshall Ramon Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Sons: Robert Lee (Mary), Longview, TX; Stanley William (Colethia), Raleigh, NC; and Rodney Arthur (Rhonda), Columbus, OH; Daughters: Renee Lynette, Fort Worth, TX; Darlene Yvonne, Columbus, OH; and Isabell, Columbus, OH; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, friends, and Special Friend, Diane Wilson, who will forever have fond memories.
