Funeral services for Mr. Sye Jackson Jr. will be held Sat., April 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the Red Oak Baptist Church with Pastor H.C. Rockmore Sr., Officiating. Burial Mount Pleasant Cemetery - Hallsville, Texas.

Sye was born August 31, 1927 in Hallsville, Tx to the parentage of Sye and Drucella Jackson. Sye began his education at Galilee School from elementary through high school in 1946. He went on to further his education attending Grambling College in Grambling, Louisiana and Texas College in Tyler, Texas.

He married Newlyn Alford and five children were born to this union, Joe McKinnley, Marcila, Kelvin, Kenneth and Sonya. His wife, sons, Joe McKinnly and Melvin Jackson, parents, and sister, Margerett Cotton preceded him in death.

He became a member of Red Oak Baptist Church in 1974 and served faithful until his death. Sye leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Marcilas Jackson of Longview and Kenneth Jackson of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Sonya Jackson of Longview; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Joe Jackson Caldwell (J.P.) of Dallas, TX; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Jackson of Longview; a special and devoted friend, Mary Portley of Longview; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
