Tom and Frances Ballard Williams welcomed a baby boy whom they named Thomas Lawrence Williams on March 15,1944 in Marshall,Texas,County of Harrison.Little did they know that this baby boy would love to sing and make others happy.
The father of two children,Ulonda Williams of Marshall,Texas and Rodrick Williams of Rowlett,Texas,Thomas graduated from H.B. Pemberton High School,Marshall,Texas in 1963 and later enlisted in the United States Army.He service to his country covered a span of twenty years giving him many wonderful stories to share of his experiences in Korea and Germany with anyone who would listen.
Thomas loved to sing and expressed his love to Mary Louise Walker Strange in 1996.As they shared wedding vows,Thomas sang to his bride "Only God Could Love You More" as she made her way down the aisle. As Thomas served his country in Germany,Mary joined him and the two traveled to Paris,France on a belated honeymoon.
The last fourteen years of Thomas' life allowed him to serve faithfully at Faith Missionary Baptist Church as Chairman of Trustee,Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church Inspirational Choir.He was quick to express his love for his church and his pator and gave freely of himself,physically,spiritually and financially for the success of the church.When devotion leaders were needed,Thomas would always come forth singing."I Love The Lord He Heard My Cry". or "Guide Me O Thy Great Jehovah".His favorite sons to sing after the pastor's message were "Serving The Lord Will Pay Off" and "My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me !" Thomas was a member of the Laymen's Auxiliary of the Texas & Louisiana Missionary Baptist Association,Texas & Louisiana Missionary Baptist Association Mass Choir and the American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his father: Tom Williams and two brothers(Nathan Ray Williams and Leonard Ray Williams)He leaves to mourn his passing: a devoted wife,Mary Louise Walker Strange;mother,Mrs.Frances Ballard Williams,Marshall;daughter,Ulonda Williams;son,Rodrick(Melinda)Williams,Rowlett,Texas;sisters:Ouida Joyce(Edward Hall,Sr) and Billie Frances Jordan,Marshall,Texas;brothers,Le Esther(Stella)Williams,Dallas,Texas;Prentice Woodrow(Janelle),Jefferson,Texas;grandchildren:Kendall(Janet)Berryman,San Antonio;Leonard(Melissa)Berryman,Austin,Texas;Aris Hilburn,Jr.,Shaterica Walker,Ebony Woolen all of Marshall,Texas and Quinton Williams of Rowlett,Texas;a special cousin,Otis Patterson of Las Vegas,Nevada and many nieces and nephews.
