Services for Vera Johnson, 65, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at St. Emmanuel Calvary Baptist Church in Hobart, Okla., with Pastor Kenneth O'Neal officiating. Burial will be in Hobart Rose Cemetery.
VERA JOHNSON was born to Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Mollie Sharp on January 22, 1941.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Master Sergeant Harold Johnson, and through this union they reared one child, Rodney Johnson.
Vera graduated from Dunbar High School in Hobart, Oklahoma. She went on to become the first black graduate to receive a Cosmetology License from Raleigh Durham, North Carolina in 1969.
In 1980 she became a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Rodney Johnson; daughter-in-law, Sherri Johnson; one grandchild, Sherese Johnson; three brothers, Harry Sharp, Bobby Sharp and Terry Sharp; two sisters, Shirley Roberts and Helen Betton; several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
