Service will be held Sat. December 10, 2011 at 1 p.m. from the New Zion Baptist Church; Rev. H.C. Rockmore Sr.-Eulogist burial in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Vernetta Louise King Pace was born April 24, 1925 to the late George and Nettie King in Nacogdoches, TX. She attended public school in Nacogdoches until the age of nine when her family relocated to Longview, TX . She completed her education in Longview. She became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church shortly after moving to Longview.
In 1946, she married Willie Otto Pace, and moved her church membership to the Mason Springs Baptist Church; where she was led to accept Christ as her personal Savior. To this union six children were born; one son (Willie O. Pace Jr.) preceded her in death.
She later moved her membership to the Love Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church. Vernetta had a big heart; she loved to cook for family and neighborhood friends. Her greatest accomplishments were her love for God and her devotion to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Jerlene Washington, Jean Watkins (Louis) and Cassandra Starling(Kevin) all of Longview, TX; two sons: Ernest Pace Sr.(Frankie) and Tommy Pace all of Longview, TX; one sister: Mary Hawthorne of Houston, TX; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; two special nieces, Brenda Hubbard & Sandra Wrighten of Longview, TX; one special great-niece, Chauncie Hart of Tyler, TX; one brother-in-law, Sylvester Pace; two sisters-in-law, Gilberta Daniels and Doris Pace; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her ex-husband, Willie O. Pace Sr. was there to love and support her until the end.
