Willie Jewel Wright was born on January 31, 1938, to the late Denina Crower Palmer and Sears Warren and was raised by her loving stepfather, the late Obie Palmer and Denina Palmer. After a lengthy illness, Willie Jewel peacefully departed this life on July 17, 2026, at the age of eighty-eight.

Willie Jewel attended Lake Providence School in Gilmer, Texas, she graduated in 1956. Following graduation, she began a career as a seamstress, working at the Gilmer sewing factory and later at the Longview sewing factory. Her talent with a needle, and thread extended far beyond the workplace, as she enjoyed sewing beautiful items for her family and friends.

Willie Jewel later became a licensed beautician and worked at the Unicorn Beauty Shop. For 25 years, she faithfully served the people of her community before retiring. Her work was more than a career, it was an opportunity to care for others, build lasting friendships, and bring joy to those around her.

Willie Jewel lived an active and fulfilling life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, exercising, power walking, participating in water aerobics, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her strength, energy, many talents, and willingness to serve others.

At an early age, Willie Jewel became a member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as an usher. She later became a member of East Cotton Street Church of Christ. There, she participated in the women’s singing group, supported various women’s activities, and served as a member of the visitation ministry. Willie remained a faithful member until her illness restricted her ability to attend worship services.

Willie Jewel shared 43 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Everett Wright, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Denina Crower Palmer, Sears Warren, her stepfather, Obie Palmer; and three brothers, Aubrey Palmer, A. B. Palmer, and Elvin Warren.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her two children, Johnny Carter, (Vernona “Dusty”),and Jennifer Jackson, (Henry); three brothers Harold Palmer, Ray Charles Palmer and Sears Warren, Jr. (Rita), six sisters, Nylene Williams (Palmer), Patricia Herbert, (Verline), Lyndia Taylor, Beverly Tims, (Rodney), Wanda Evans, and Sandra Brooks; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Willie Jewel Wright lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and love for her family. Although her earthly presence will be deeply missed, the precious memories she created and the love she shared will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
